Learning About Surgery: Sunrise Mountain High School HOSA
I had the privilege of speaking to the Sunrise Mountain High School HOSA Club (Health Occupations Students of America)—a group of motivated students exploring future careers in healthcare.
During my visit, I shared what life is like as a surgeon: my daily routine, the path through surgical training, the time and dedication it takes, and the many rewarding career options available in the health professions. I always enjoy connecting with students who are curious about medicine and helping them see the wide range of opportunities in the field.
We wrapped up our session by watching a few surgical videos, which—unsurprisingly—sparked the most excitement and questions from the group.
Surgery has been an incredibly challenging yet deeply rewarding career for me. If even one student walked away feeling inspired to pursue medicine, I’d call that a success.
